Another first from Metro Pain Group

Dr Bruce Mitchell recently completed the surgical implantation for the first subject in the international ReActiv8-B Clinical Trial at Monash House Private Hospital. The trial involves the implantation of a unique neurostimulation system designed to treat disabling low back pain.

ReActiv8® (Mainstay Medical International plc) differs from other neuromodulators as it is designed to electrically stimulate the nerves responsible for contracting the key stabilising muscles in the lower back. Activation of these muscles to restore their functional stability has been shown to facilitate recovery from chronic low back pain.

Dr. Mitchell commented: “… we are very excited to be part of this pivotal trial. Many of our patients have been suffering from chronic low back pain for years and have exhausted all the available treatment options. ReActiv8 allows us to offer them a new, unique approach which addresses the cause of pain rather than just the symptoms.”
