Dr Navid Hamedani is a Fellow of Pain Medicine. He graduated from his doctorate degree in medicine from Tehran University of Medical Science (TUMS) and continued his vocational training with the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (RACGP).

Navid commenced his pain medicine fellowship after seeing the profound impact of pain on the patient's quality of life, and on their family and community. He believes that chronic pain affects the whole biology, psychology and social function of the patient.

Navid currently practises medical acupuncture and mentors doctors attending acupuncture courses as a fellow of the Australian Medical Acupuncture College.

He is passionate about pain medicine and considers it the most rewarding field in medicine. By fostering strong relationships, Navid allows his patients to acknowledge and share even the most hidden impacts of their condition.

David Field is a Clinical and Health Psychologist and is a member of the Australian Psychological Society College of Health Psychologists and a member of the Australian Pain Society. David has worked as a psychologist for the past 25 years. He has specialist training in the assessment and treatment of chronic pain, PTSD, anxiety, depression, stress management, grief and relationship difficulties. David works together with the doctors at Metro Pain to help patients develop skills in pain management and reduce the impact of psychological factors that contribute to pain. By utilising cognitive behavioural and acceptance commitment therapy David enables patients to increase their awareness of the factors that intensify the pain experience and improve the quality of their life and relationships. David provides mindfulness meditation training in groups and individually to enable patients to reduce unhelpful thoughts, feelings and emotions and increase the understanding of pain and how mindfulness reduces pain and suffering.
David holds a Masters of Clinical Psychology. He has conducted qualitative research with people who have chronic pain and experience of spinal cord stimulation and has published research into help seeking behaviour.

He is a full member of the Australian Psychological Society, a board approved psychological supervisor, a full member of the Australian Pain Society and was on the Executive Committee for the Agency for Clinical Intervention (ACI) for the treatment of pain.
David has completed a Doctorate in Psychology (Clinical), a Masters in Psychology (Counselling) and a Bachelor of Teaching. His Doctorate thesis explored the complex relationships between psychosocial stressors and pain in individuals with chronic pain conditions. David has a strong interest and expertise in helping people cope psychologically with chronic pain conditions. He also has expertise in helping individuals manage conditions such as depression, anxiety and trauma related issues.
He has been trained in a number of counselling and clinical modalities but his preferred treatment approaches include Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) and Schema-based therapy. He prides himself on taking a client centred approach in an effort to ensure that the person he is working with is always respected and feels as comfortable as possible in each session.

Joanne’s previous roles included teaching pilates, hydrotherapy and fitball classes, as well as facilitating inpatient and outpatient care and rehab for various hospitals. Joanne has also worked for an amateur football club, held sessional lectures at Monash University and published a number of articles in a health magazine. Joanne’s experiences have allowed her to help people of all ages using manual therapy, dry needling and exercise to manage sports and work injuries plus postural and lifestyle ailments, involving both peripheral and spinal areas.
