Pain need not define your existence. With the right approach, even the most challenging conditions can improve, allowing you to reclaim the quality of life you deserve.
— Dr Paul Verrills - MetroPain

When I embarked on my medical journey over thirty years ago, I made a deliberate choice to dedicate my career to musculoskeletal medicine and pain management.

This path began with my medical training at the University of Queensland (1980-1985) and deepened through advanced specialization at the University of Otago, where I earned my Graduate Diploma with distinction. My passion for understanding pain led me to complete a Masters in Pain Medicine from the University of Newcastle, and since 2000, I've been honored to serve as a Fellow of the Australasian Faculty of Musculoskeletal Medicine.

Throughout my practice, I've witnessed firsthand how both physical and psychological pain can devastate lives. I've seen patients endure countless sleepless nights, struggle with anger and depression, and in the most heartbreaking cases, contemplate suicide. The disruption to quality of life can be so profound that simply facing another day becomes a monumental challenge. While conventional approaches like pain medication, injections, and surgery are typical interventions, I've come to understand that physical pain is often just the visible symptom of complex, underlying issues.

Throughout my career, I've had the privilege of collaborating with world-renowned pain specialists and surgeons in both research and technique development. This collaborative experience has enhanced my ability to help clients overcome even the most complicated physical pain conditions.
